Connecting to Self: Yoga and Meditation Retreat

January 21, 2015

H0ueZRK63X3VerEsmaBSaI0gVO6VYLTPQrrxfZOrryM,ZMBP8Fbps0ytpRe9egJyyzypdlf7N_SV5mSL15h72y4The gorgeous and magical grounds of Stowel Lake Farm!

Time to yourself, getting away from your normal routine, meeting new people, and going deeper into our practice.

These are just a few reasons I would give for why someone might consider going on a yoga retreat.  In reality, each person has their own motivation for coming to a retreat.

When I took up yoga over nine years ago, I never dreamed I could go to a yoga retreat.  I felt intimidated and scared.  All of my insecurities crept up on me:

Will people like me?  What will I do during the down time?  Will I like the food?  I’ve never been there before…will I manage?  What if everyone else is better than me at yoga?

Those questions are exactly why it was time for me to do a yoga retreat.  The retreat enabled me to explore those questions and more.  I ended up making fantastic friends, enjoying the down time I had by reading books that had been sitting on my shelf, eating amazing food, exploring every nook and cranny of the new place I was in, and deepening my practice on many levels.  In essence, it was everything I hoped it would be and more.

Yoga and meditation retreats, when done well, can be a place to re-connect to yourself and disconnect from old habits, relationships, and patterns that no longer serve us.  It is a time to take care of and nourish ourselves through exploration.  Retreats are great because you have a support team of individuals ready to assist you at every turn and a daily structure that propels growth and deeper dives into those things that interest you.

When we take the time to give ourselves this gift, it can be an invitation for radical transformation.

This is your journey!  I hope you make retreats a part of it!
